Take A Word - Butterflies

I am absolutely chuffed to bits to supply this sample for Take A Word #12 challenge - Butterflies. Thank you Marie & Co for the opportunity.
This piece is handstamped using distress inks, except the butterfly which was coloured with a Whispers pen. The stamps are by: Elusive Images - the butterfly, Script - Image Tree and all other stamps are by Crafty Individuals. It measures 6 in x 4 in and the postcard is an ATC
This has come round at a funny time for me, I'm finding myself struggling with confidence issues and a loss of mojo, I am spending alot of time looking at peoples art work and then looking at mine and wondering why I bother. I seem to be flitting from one thing to another and struggling to find my own 'style'. Does this happen to everyone?
I get some inspiration for projects whilst out walking Ozzy, I think we are both looking forward to seeing the butterflies again, it's been very cold and wet here!!
I do hope you like my butterfly, thanks so much for looking, Sam x

  3. I am so sorry that I do not have time this week to join the TAKE A WORD challenge but what I can DO is looking at some entries.
    And I must say...Glad that I've seen yours !!
It is such a bright coloured style and real magical for me HOW you've made this !
    ( I only work degital :)

About your writing...."struggling to find you own style". I reconize that and think that we both like so many different styles that it is just hard to choose. But WHY would we ??

I have always had very divergent interests when it comes to artistic expression. And if those interests take me in different directions, I'm more than happy to follow.
Perhaps this can help you ;)

    Hearty greetings from me...

  5. Gorgeous colours & design, Sam! Yes, my mojo leaves me sometimes, too, then I think I will give it all away then an idea comes into my head and away I go again! I take many photos while out walking my dog, too, in fact they are used in the 3 Muses challenge on Wednesday!

  7. Aww Sam you sound so down. Your work is stunning and you DO have a style of your own. It doesn't do for us all to be and like the same things. You need to do what's good for you, forget what everyone else does

    xxxxxxx

  8. It's beautiful! I love the colours and the way you've put all the elements together.

And I can relate to what you're saying; I have confidence issues too and don't have just one style because I love so many different things when it comes to craft!

I feel exactly the same as you.. most of the time.. I flit from cute to grungey.. & often think I shouldn't post my creations.. it does get hard at times especially when you blog hop! but believe me when I say I always leave your blog with a smile when you post something quirky.. I love your thinking. :) I would miss calling so much if you didn't post.. have a great week & go with the flow!!

  12. Hiya..the majority of us have confidence issues and I do know where you are coming from (as I too wonder if what I make/create is good enough and it never seems to get as much response as others) but just try and remember to enjoy what you do. I follow your blog and love what you do! This butterfly postcard is just simply beautiful! WELL DONE! x

We all suffer with a lack of confidence from time to time, but I think you have a great style Sam, & a great sense of colour!

  15. This is beautiful work, Sam. What you call "flitting about" is spreading your wings. I feel if I didn't "flit about" trying different things I'd die of boredom doing the same thing over and over! Thank you for sharing your talent. Keep flitting!

  17. Hi Sam,
your art is beautiful always! Sorry that you are having a lack of confidence but just look at all these comments letting you know that your art is loved! You know that I have felt the same way and YOU told me not to compare myself to everyone else. I do think you have a "style" and it is your own style, it is not cutesy-cute, not completely grunge, but a wonderful whimsical style laced with humour and cleverness. And you always always amaze me with your sense of colour and the design/layout of your cards.
This card is gorgeous and you were asked to be the sample for the challenge! Well done!
    xoxo Karen

  20. Sam! Lovely, lovely card! Art is not perfect, it just IS... and there are as many ways to be artistic as there are clouds in the sky. Just enjoy doing ehat you do! If you are inspired to try something when you're blog hopping that's a good thing. That's how we learn. I have blogged for 5 years now and I can honestly say that I still learn something new every day.
We are our own harshest critics - silence your inner one and enjoy yourself! =)
