Tin Is In!

Such a fab challenge starts at Stampotique this week, it's hosted by super duper artist and friend Janet, you can find Janet's wonderful blog here. This is what Janet says about this weeks challenge:
"I am challenging you to use some form of tin in your artwork.  Consider incorporating craft tin, tin tape, an Altoid container, a re purposed tin can or any tin object to incorporate with your stamping.
Put on your "thinking" caps and join us."
It had been ages since I last altered a tin even though I had still been collecting them, I find it hard to throw away anything shiny!
The first thing to do for this creation was to get the holes in the right place so I stamped Stitched Houses, designed by Janet, twice on tissue paper and glued on the tin, I then filled the tin with water and placed in the freezer overnight. By freezing the tin you can hammer the holes without buckling the metal, a technique I spotted on Pinterest.
Once the holes were made I removed the tissue paper and let the ice melt. I stamped the houses on white card and coloured and cut out. When the tin was dry I painted with a neutral colour and splashed matching colours all over. It was then just a case of lining up the holes with the stamped images and gluing. I added some sparkle along the bottom using double sided sticky tape and mica flakes and some jewel flowers.
I am really pleased with this as it looks great in daylight but it really comes a live at night with a candle inside. This could quite possible by one of my favourite makes :)
Don't forget just by joining in the challenge you are in with a chance of winning some Stampotique stamps of your choice!
Wishing you a lovely day, Sam xxx
